I render organic objects with great precision because I am intrigued by the reality of their forms. Each branch reveals curves, bends, bumps and scars that express its unique character. By removing the objects from their natural context and arranging them in a new environment, I allow them to develop associations beyond the obvious. The intrinsic value of the forms remains intact, while their new context allows them to move beyond the realm of what is familiar. Separated from its origins and presented without distraction, I can focus on each individual branch, and appreciate it not only as what it is, but as what it might represent.

I am fascinated by the movement of a line bending and curving a path through space, and defining the area around it. The simplicity of my compositions emphasizes the way the branches interact with each other as they activate the space around them.
